To thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and to advance the tasks outlined in the Outline for Building an Intellectual Property Power (2021–2035) and the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Intellectual Property Protection and Utilization, the Training Program on Patent Reexamination and Invalidation Litigation Practice, hosted by the China Intellectual Property Society and co-organized by Beijing Kexin Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd. and the Intellectual Property School of Qingdao University, was held in Qingdao on May 31.

Beijing Kangrui Law Firm was invited to deliver training for the participating enterprises. Gary Wu, a partner of the firm, served as a lecturer and delivered a keynote session titled “Strategies and Practice of Patent Invalidation Defense in Patent Infringement Litigation.”

Since beginning his career in intellectual property agency work in 1993, Gary Wu has represented numerous well-known domestic and international enterprises in large volumes of patent applications, patent invalidation proceedings, and patent infringement litigation cases. He has been invited to teach at professional training programs for patent agents organized by the IP authorities of Beijing, Jiangsu, and Guangdong. In addition, he has frequently delivered keynote speeches at various IP seminars and salons held in China and abroad.

During the training, Gary Wu focused on key issues such as why parties should initiate patent invalidation during litigation, how to find evidence to invalidate an opposing party’s patent, and provided in-depth explanations through concrete case examples. He also elaborated on the legal effect of patent evaluation reports and shared strategies on how to mitigate the risk of being accused of patent infringement.

Participating enterprises expressed that the training significantly deepened their understanding of patent infringement prevention and response, and that Attorney Wu’s insights were highly beneficial.
